There was a change introduced into the codebase that triggered the Welcome to your Travis CI trial! email and builds for repos without a .travis.yml file. This change was immediately reverted and there should be no builds triggered for repos without a .travis.yml and no changes to your account.
Travis CI remains and will remain free for open source projects.
